Juliet Gamero Preston

35+ Years of Performing and Teaching

Juliet began piano at the age of four, the oldest child of Peruvian and American parents. She quickly caught the thrill of composing and performing which has taken her to many venues - from Abravanel Hall and Pioneer Theater in Salt Lake City, to theaters, churches, and concert halls in Texas and Montana.

Her teaching career began as a young teen, developing a passion for music education that she has shared as a presenter for local teacher groups and at conferences for Music Teachers National Association, National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy, and the International Keyboard and Collaborative Arts Society. She has taught on the piano faculties of Utah Valley University, Weber State University, the University of Montana, and Concordia University at Austin. She has served in several leadership positions for Music Teachers National Association in Utah, Texas and Montana.

A proponent of fostering excellence in her music community, Juliet co-founded the Collaborative Pianists Guild of Utah (cpgu.org) to provide educational resources for fellow accompanists and performance opportunities with the CPGU Young Collaborative Pianists Competition.

Juliet received her BM in Piano Performance from the University of Utah under Solveig Lunde Madsen, Columbia Recording Artist and pupil of Olga Samaroff, and afterward completed her MM in Performance from the University of Texas at Austin, studying Lita Guerra and Martha Hilley.

She has given many solo concerts and collaborated with a variety of classical and pop musicians and ensembles including the Missoula Symphony Orchestra to working with composer John Corigliano for the Utah premiere of his Fantasia on an Ostinato.

Equally comfortable playing Beethoven or Pink Floyd, she is the pianist/organist and songwriter for the progressive-rock band memoryfield, whose videos and albums are on YouTube and all streaming platforms (see her Store on this site!). She released Christmas Joy, an album of classical arrangements for piano, and has a large library of sacred choral compositions, with several compositions for piano ensembles.
